The Stockton Record published an article by Kevin Parrish about SSP’s pilot program in Stockton, California during the summer of 2013.
“Our first goal is for the campers to fall in love with Stockton as much as we have,” said Bri Dennison, site director and part of an advance team that arrived last week. “We want to let them experience the city as much as humanly possible.”
Vernonia’s Voice published an article by Scott Laird about SSP’s first Weekend of Service in Vernonia, Oregon.
“The students worked at the Vernonia Pioneer Museum where they did landscaping work, planted trees at the new Vernonia Schools campus, cleaned bricks from the old high school that will be used to build pathways in the Community Garden, painted at the American Legion Hall, cleaned up some City owned properties and did yard work for several senior citizens.”

“Basically anyone who wants to come out and serve god is more than welcome,”says Robbie Frederiksen who is a Regional Coordinator for the Portland office for Sierra Service Projects. “We’ve had people from the Mormon faith, the Catholic faith-anybody who wants to come out and work we are more than happy to have their hands. We actually have people here who don’t have a faith at all but want to be of service.” Frederiksen has been working with locals to organize the logistics for the work project.
