About Sierra Service Project (SSP)
Sierra Service Project (SSP) is a Christian non-profit organization providing life-changing experiences through acts of service repairing homes in Native American and urban communities and serving in Central America. We invite junior high and high school age youth and young adults to experience the profound power of serving people who have a culture and life experience different from their own.
During our Domestic Summer Program each year, approximately 1,500 youth and 400 adult volunteers from 130 churches and over 50 paid summer staff live, worship and work together on seven different project sites. Together, their work results in over 130 safer, drier and more comfortable homes.
In 2011, 108 churches that participated were United Methodist. The other 22 churches were Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Lutheran and United Church of Christ. We welcome all denominations to participate in our programs.
