Summer Session
Locations
Currently, we are
planning on projects in the following locations:
McDermitt, Nevada - SSP has worked for a number of summers in this small,
remote location.
Indian
Valley, California - we will again stay at the Greenville United Methodist
Church.
South Los Angeles, California - at our project facility within the
Vermont Square United Methodist Church
Loleta, California - the Wiyot Tribe has again invited us to work with
their community along the beautiful coast of Northern California. This
summer, we will focus on home weatherization work on the reservation.
Rock Point, Arizona or another nearby Navajo Nation community.
Tijuana, Mexico - we will repeat last year's successful pilot, with a few
changes. See below for more information.

Junior High Program
Last summer's junior
high pilot was quite successful and so we plan to repeat and expand this program in 2009.
Our plans are for the project to take place on the Round Valley reservation in
Covelo, California. See our Junior
High project information page for more details.
Tijuana, Mexico
Program
Our pilot program in
Mexico also received very good reviews and we plan to repeat it. We have
scheduled four weeks of this project for the summer of 2009. The project
will again take place at the Bethel Templo Methodist Church in Tijuana. We
will be building showers at the church to accommodate our volunteers. A
big change this year is that SSP will provide all transportation for teams while
they are in Mexico.
Honduras
We again plan to spend
three teams of 10 to 12 older youth and young adults for two weeks of service
and immersion in Honduras. The cost of the program will be $2,200 per person
if you register by January 15, 2009 ($2,300 after that date), including airfare from Los Angeles.

Spring Break
We are planning on
hosting several sessions of alternative spring break programs at our South Los
Angeles facility. Click here for more
information on these exciting programs. This year, we plan to host
both high school and college groups (although not at the same time!)
