Navajo Nation, Arizona

We have been invited to spend the summer of 2010 in the community of Teec Nos Pos.  Teec (pronounced "teess") is a remote community and SSP has never worked there before.  We will either be housed in a building that belongs to the local chapterhouse or at a local school.  We will publish more site details as we know them.  As with all of our Navajo Nation projects in the past, you can expect hot days, cooler nights, rustic conditions with lots of dirt and mud.  You can also expect great projects, beautiful sites and a wonderful introduction to the culture of the Navajo people.

Accommodations.   We plan to work in the community of Teec Nos Pos, located in the Four Corners area of Arizona very close to the border with New Mexico.  The specific lodging arrangements are still being worked out.

Our Work.  We expect do be doing lots of roofing and a variety of construction work, including porches, stairs, floors and wheelchair ramps.  Some homes may be up to an hour away.

The Weather.  We expect highs in the 90's and cooler nights, with afternoon and evening thunderstorms.  The elevation of the area is about 5,000 feet.

Phone:  To be announced.

Mailing address:  To be announced.

Directions:

Consult Google maps, a similar mapping service or a traditional road map for the best route for you.  PLEASE remember that you have a long way to travel to get to this site.  In addition, the Navajo Nation is on Mountain Time, which means that you lose an hour when you enter the reservation from anywhere in Arizona.  Please allow plenty of time to reach the site NO LATER than 4 PM.  Driving Times
